Dom Lombardi, Manhattan
Senior, C/IF, 5-10/200, Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond’s
Lombardi was 4-for-9 (.444) from the plate and knocked in two RBIs over the Jaspers’ doubleheader at UMBC on Sunday afternoon. In the fifth inning of game two, he emerged as the hero when he blasted a RBI double, which proved to be the decisive run in a 4-3 Manhattan victory. Lombardi also managed three runs and a stolen base in back-to-back wins over the Retrievers. He posted a .556 slugging percentage in the winning effort.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Matt Nevins, Manhattan
Senior, RHP, 6-1/180, Beacon, N.Y./Beacon
Nevins earned his first win of the season and led Manhattan to a sweep of UMBC on Sunday in Baltimore. In game two of the doubleheader, he allowed just one earned run over six innings of work. Nevins notched five strikeouts, surrendered just four hits and guided the Jaspers to a 4-3 victory.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Chad Salem, Manhattan
Freshman, IF, 5-11/198, Rye, N.Y./Iona Prep
Salem tallied four RBIs, five runs and a home run in the Jaspers’ sweep of America East opponent UMBC on Sunday in Baltimore. He led Manhattan’s offensive charge in game one, posting all of his RBIs in a 14-7 rout of the Retrievers. In the top of the ninth, Salem blasted a two-run homer, marking the first of his collegiate career. In game two, he posted two of the Jaspers’ four runs in a 4-3 decision. Salem went 2-for-6 (.333) from the plate in the sweep of UMBC.
