MAAC Player of the Week
Chris Klepps, Siena
Senior, SS, 5-11/190, Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central
Klepps went 8-for-14 from the plate (.571), while scoring four runs and adding a double and an RBI during Siena’s three-game series at the University of Central Florida. He also tallied four putouts and 12 assists, while only committing one error. Klepps’ best outing of the weekend came in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, going 5-for-6 with four runs scored.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Marcus Spaulding, Niagara
Sophomore, RHP, 6-0/175, Copenhagen, N.Y./Copenhagen
Spaulding pitched eight innings of two-hit baseball without allowing a run against Big East opponent Cincinnati on Sunday. The sophomore righthander struck out six batters, including striking out the side in the seventh inning. Spaulding carried a no-hitter through 5 2/3 and allowed just a sixth-inning double and eighth-inning single on the day.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Shane Davis, Canisius
Freshman, LHP, 6-0/175, Belmont, Ontario/East Elgin Secondary
Davis won his second straight start in a 4-2 victory over Mount St. Mary’s Saturday. The 6-foot lefty threw six innings, allowed eight hits, gave up two runs (one earned) and walked one to improve to 3-0 on the season.
