MAAC Player of the Week

 

Katie Miranto, Canisius

Senior, 2B, 5-4, Stamford, Conn./Stamford

Miranto hit .526 (10-for-19) with six runs scored, four runs batted in, three triples and a double last week as the Golden Griffins went 5-1 in six road non-conference games.  In those six games, she posted an on-base percentage of .591 and a slugging percentage of .895 after leading the team with 17-total bases.  In the Blue and Gold’s doubleheader sweep of Robert Morris, the senior infielder went a combined 6-for-7 at the plate with three runs scored, two triples and a double.  That effort helped raise her batting average 55 points from .351 at the start of the day to .406 at the end of the twinbill.   

 

 

 

MAAC Pitcher of the Week

 

Megan rigos, Marist

Senior, LHP, 6-0, Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon

Rigos went 2-1 on the week and did not allow an earned run in 20 innings of work.  She struck out 26 and only walked three and scattered eight total hits.  In the Red Foxes’ win in the first game of a doubleheader with Binghamton, Rigos went all seven innings, allowing three hits and striking out 12 while walking only one.  In Marist’s game one win over Seton Hall, she went the distance and gave up just two hits.  She threw three complete games on the week, and now has 10 complete games in 11 starts this season.       

 

 

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

Erin Kyle, Iona

Freshman, OF, 5-4, McSherrystown, Pa./New Oxford

Kyle batted .455 (5-11) in four games last week for the Gaels.  She tallied three runs and one stolen bases during the week.  In the doubleheader against Fordham, Kyle went a combined 3-for-5 with three hits and a walk.
