James Hayes, Rider
Senior, IF/OF/P, 5-11/185, Sunrise, Fla./Piper
Hayes batted .579 (11-19) in five games last week for the Broncs, adding six stolen bases, four walks four runs and two RBI. He played four different positions over the course of the five games, including starting three straight games at three different positions (2B at Rutgers, CF vs. Saint Joseph’s, right field vs. Marist, CF vs. Marist). In the field, Hayes had seven put outs, one assist and no errors.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Tom Costigan, Manhattan
Sophomore, RHP, 6-3/192, Cold Spring, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes
Costigan posted a 0.90 ERA over 10 innings of action last week for the Jaspers. He retired three straight batters in one inning of relief, helping Manhattan to an 8-1 victory at Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday. On Sunday, Costigan threw the first complete game of his collegiate career, going nine innings while allowing just four hits and one earned run in Manhattan’s 4-1 victory over Le Moyne. He also struck out six in the winning effort.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Tucker Nathans, Fairfield
Freshman, SS, 6-1/180, Warwick, N.Y./Salisbury Academy
Nathans hit .538 on the week for the Stags with four RBI and three runs scored. He posted an on-base percentage of .647 and a slugging percentage of .769. In addition to his seven hits, Nathans walked three times and was hit by a pitch, and did not strikeout in 13 at-bats. In the series opener and win against Niagara, he went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. On the year, Nathans is batting a team-high .365 with a team best 23 hits. He has scored seven runs and driven in six and has stolen four bases.
