Tim Alberts, Niagara
Senior, OF, 6-3/200, Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker
Alberts opened the 2008 season with a .722 batting average in five games over a three-day span. He went 13-for-18 (.722) with 14 runs scored and eight RBIs to lead Niagara to a 4-1 start. Alberts totaled four doubles and two home runs while drawing eight walks, three intentional, and stealing four bases. On Sunday, he went 5-for-5 with three runs and four RBIS, including two doubles and a home run in a 10-7 victory over Davidson. Alberts went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBIs in a 24-2 win over Coppin State on Monday, as his three hits were two doubles and a home run.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Dan Morari, Niagara
Junior, LHP, 6-0/180, Saskatoon, Sask./Dickinson State
Morari made a solid debut for the Purple Eagles on the hill, allowing one hit while striking out nine in six innings of a seven-inning game to earn the win. He allowed just a third-inning double and a first-inning walk in his first career start, and retired the side in order in three of his six innings, including striking out the side in the fifth.

Jonathan Smith, Niagara
Freshman, OF/IF, 6-2/195, Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield
Smith had an impressive collegiate debut, collecting a hit in all five games as Niagara opened the season 4-1. He went 9-for-17 (.529) with eight runs scored and seven RBIs, starting every game in right field for the Purple Eagles. Smith went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBIs and three walks in Monday’s double-header sweep of Coppin State.
