Giordano, Rigos and Calcagnini Earn MAAC Softball Weekly Accolades

Melissa Giordano, Marist
Junior, SS, 5-4, Stamford, Conn./Stamford
Giordano is leading the Red Foxes with a .429 average and has hit safely in nine of the 10 Marist games this season. She has scored seven runs on the year, and she has converted 20 of 21 chances at shortstop this season. She has also driven in three runs from the top of the lineup.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Megan Rigos, Marist
Senior, RHP, 6-0, Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon
Rigos, the Preseason Pitcher of the Year, has pitched in seven of the first ten games for the Red Foxes this season. She is currently 3-2 with a 1.85 ERA, and has pitched in all four Marist wins this season. In 34 innings of work, Rigos has given up 23 hits and eight walks. She has 44 strikeouts on the year and a walk/strikeout ratio of 5.5-to-1.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Olivia Calcagnini, Siena
Freshman, C/3B, 5-7, Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown Heights
Calcagnini batted .438 in Siena’s six games in the Northwestern State Invitational and collected three home runs. She hit a game-winning walk-off home run in the Saints’ 6-5 win over Jackson State. Calcagnini was 3-for-3 against the Tigers with three RBI. In the season opener against Northwestern State, she posted another three-hit game, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, two runs and two RBI. In the Saints’ second game against Northwestern State, she blasted a two run home run.
