Marist's Brian Giorgis Named Co-Winner of the Maggie Dixon Coach of the Year Award

Edison, N.J. ? Marist College’s Brian Giorgis of Marist was co-winner of the Maggie Dixon Coach of the Year Award by the National Invitation Tournament and Met Basketball Writers Association.

 

Giorgis guided the Red Foxes (32-3) to an undefeated MAAC regular season (18-0) title and the conference championship, and a fourth trip to the NCAAs in his sixth season at the helm.  Marist defeated DePaul University in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship before losing to LSU.  Giorgis previously was named the All-Met Coach of the Year in 2004.  He shares this year’s award with C. Vivian Stringer of Rutgers University.

 

Epiphanny Prince of Rutgers was named 2007-08 All-Met Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Named to the All-Met Second Team: Jennifer Walkling, FDU; Caitlin Flood, Manhattan; Kia Wright, St. John’s; Monique McLean, St. John’s; Noteisha Womack, Seton Hall; Sabra Wrice, Fairfield.

 

All-Met players and coaches will be honored Thursday evening, April 17, at Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford, N.J.
