Marist Captures Second Straight MAAC Women's Tennis Title

Flushing, NY - Marist College shut out Fairfield University 7-0 to claim its second consecutive MAAC Women's Tennis Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Marist seniors Erin Godly and Christine Ong were named as the tournament's Most Outstanding Performers. Godly went a combined 6-0 in singles and doubles over the weekend. In the championship match she defeated Fairfield's Paulina Rys at second singles (6-1, 6-1) and teamed with Alex Strange for an 8-6 doubles victory over Rys and Dana Postupack. Ong went a combined 5-1, her only defeat was an 8-6 loss at second doubles today. Ong went 3-0 at first singles.
Marist will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The matchups will be announced on Tuesday, April 29th.
