Kevin Mahoney, Canisius
Junior, 3B, 6-0/210, Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place
Mahoney hit .556 with seven runs scored, two doubles, four home runs and 11 RBIs while slugging 1.333 in the team’s five games. He tied a school record with three home runs in the Griffs’ come-from-behind 10-9 victory over Siena.
Nick Messinger, Siena
Junior, OF, 5-9/170, Norton, Mass./Bishop Feehan
Messinger batted .562 (9-for-16) with four RBI and eight runs scored in a 5-1 week for the Saints. In the series win against Canisius, he was a combined 5-for-9 with five runs scored and an RBI.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Tom Costigan, Manhattan
Sophomore, RHP, 6-3/192, Cold Spring, N.Y./Out Lady of Lourdes
Costigan pitched 10 shutout innings leading the Jaspers to a pair of wins over Iona and Sacred Heart last week. He limited his opponents to just eight hits, a 2.16 batting average and walked just one batter. On Saturday, Costigan threw a complete game shutout against the Gaels for his fourth win of the season. He allowed just five hits and struck out seven batters over nine innings of work.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Mason Heyne, Rider
Freshman, 3B, 6-2/215, Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock
Heyne batted .636 (14-22) in a 3-2 week for the Broncs. He also collected six RBI, five runs scored, a double and a home run for a .818 slugging percentage. In the series against Fairfield, Heyne went 7-for-14, including a home run, and tallied four RBI and four runs scored.
