Mulieri and Mannix Take Home Second Golfer of the Month Award

Loyola’s Michael Mulieri and Siena’s
Katelynn Mannix have been named the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Month
for April.
Mulieri took medalist honors in one tournament and finished
third in another to lead Loyola to a pair of top four finishes this past month.
At the LaCrosse Homes Collegiate, the Greyhounds’ junior took first place among
all individuals. He fired a final round 69 and a tournament score of 144 to
give the Greyhounds a fourth-place finish in the 19 team event. Mulieri then
shot rounds of 72-73-71 at the Golden Fox Invitational, taking third overall
and helping Loyola to a runner-up finish in the tournament last weekend.
Overall, Mulieri’s stroke average for the month was an even-par 72.
Mannix, a freshman, competed in three events in the month of
April, leading the Saints to some solid scores. At the Hoya Women’s
Invitational hosted by Georgetown
March 31-April 1, Mannix shot rounds of 84, 82 and 84 to place in the top half
of the field. Then at the Columbia Roar-EE Invitational April 11-12, the Plattsburgh, N.Y.
native again finished in the top half, rebounding from a tough first round, to
finish with rounds of 87 and 83 respectively. In her final tune up before the
MAAC Championships, Mannix saved her best for last, placing third overall
individually earlier this week at the Bowling Green State Falcon Invitational.
Mannix had her best three round score of the spring (236) in firing rounds of
77, 78 and 81.
