MAAC Offensive Player of the Week
BENNETT MURPHY, PROVIDENCE
A, Grad., 6-4, Princeton, N.J./Princeton
Murphy led the Friar offense to an 11-5 victory over Canisius, who was previously unbeaten in MAAC play. Murphy recorded a game-high four points on two goals and two assists. His two goals came on just three shot attempts. He also picked up two groundballs in the victory. Murphy tallied five points (three goals, two assists) against Wagner earlier in the week. In total, he had five goals and four assists.
MAAC Defensive Player of the Week
BRENT HERBST, SIENA
G, So., 6-0, Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK
Herbst, who entered the week leading the nation in goals against average, continued to impress in leading the Saints to a perfect 2-0 week to wrap up the season. He posted a combined 6.50 goals against average in wins over Marist and Mount St. Mary’s while also accruing a solid .629 save percentage. He also added five groundballs.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
DAN MOHR, MOUNT ST. MARY’S
A, Fr., 5-8, Lederach, Pa./Souderton Area
Mohr posted seven goals and an assist to lead the Mount to a 1-1 week. In the Mount’s 11-8 win over VMI, the freshman tallied three goals and an assist to pace the Mount to the victory. In Saturday’s final MAAC game, he scored a season-best four goals in the Mount’s 12-7 loss. Mohr leads the Mount with 26 goals and 35 points this season.
