Healy, Minice, and Hope Named MAAC Softball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Tory Healy, Niagara
Senior, 1B, 5-7, Las Vegas, Nev./Centennial
Healy hit .571 (8-for-14) with four runs scored, seven runs batted in, two home runs and one stolen base last week to help the Purple Eagles to a 3-1 week. Defensively, she made 29 putouts, an assist and no errors.
Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Minice, Fairfield
Freshman, RHP, 5-7, Bellevue, Wash./Sammamish
Minice allowed just one earned run in 20 innings pitched last week, and struck out 13 hitters to post a 3-0 record. She earned her first career shutout, an 8-0 decision over Yale University. Minice also picked up two wins in MAAC play, allowing no earned runs in a 3-2 win over Siena and one earned run in a 2-1 victory against Marist.
Rookie of the Week
Lauren hope, Canisius
Freshman, OF, 5-2, Los Osos, Calif./Morro Bay
Hope lead the Canisius offense last week by hitting .538 (7-for-13) with five runs scored and five stolen bases in four starts against Buffalo and Saint Peter’s. In the Golden Griffins’ 6-2 win over Buffalo, she reached first base by beating out an infield hit, then moved around the base paths by stealing second, third and home to score the Blue and Gold’s fourth run of the game. At Saint Peter’s, Hope started her MAAC career by going a combined 5-for-8 at the dish with three runs scored, and her two stolen bases in the nightcap against the Peahens moved her to a perfect 15-for-15 in stolen bases attempts this year, which ties her for the program record in stolen bases by a freshman.
