KEVIN HILL, VMI

Hill posted eight points on
Saturday versus Saint Joseph’s,
helping lead the Keydets to a crucial victory. The senior attack scored five
goals, including the third-period marker that would break the game’s final tie.
The New York
native also assisted on three goals, to help move VMI into sole possession of
third place in the MAAC.
MAAC Defensive Player of the Week
MATT BARKAS,
CANISIUS
D, So., 5-11, Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair
Barkas anchored a strong defensive showing for the
Griffs. The sophomore picked up five ground balls and added four caused
turnovers in a 12-5 conference victory over Marist. Barkas recorded three
ground balls and three of his four caused turnovers in the second half as
Canisius outscored the Red Foxes 9-1 after intermission. Barkas has been a key
member of the Canisius defense that is allowing only 5.75 goals per game during
its school-record four-game winning streak.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
NICK LOCOCO,
CANISIUS
A, Fr., 5-9, Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse
LoCoco led Canisius to a 12-5 victory over Marist,
helping the Griffs remain tied for first in the MAAC standings. The rookie
posted a point on half of the team’s goals, recording six points on a
career-best three goals in addition to three assists. Five of LoCoco’s six
points (2g, 3a) came in the second half, when Canisius outscored the Red Foxes,
9-1. Trailing 4-3 at the half, LoCoco recorded two assists during a one-minute
extra-man advantage to give the Griffs a lead it would never lose.
