Loyola's Mulieri To Compete At 50th Annual Porter Cup

Edison, NJ ? Loyola College’s Michael Mulieri, the 2008 MAAC Men’s Golf Champion, will compete in the 50th Annual Porter Cup held from July 22 to July 26 at the Niagara Falls Country Club.

Mulieri, a junior from Silver Spring, Md., posted a three round score of 211 (74-67-70) to win the MAAC Championship by six strokes and lead the Greyhounds to the men’s team title. He also finished first at the LaCrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational and the Carlton Oaks Invitational. Mulieri was named the MAAC Golfer of the Month twice this season.

The Porter Cup, which began competition in 1959, is considered to be one of the best medal play amateur tournaments in the world. Past champions include current and former PGA Tour members Phil Mickelson, Scott Verplank, Ben Crenshaw, and David Duval.
