Ticket Applications Available for the 2009 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Trenton Regional at Sovereign Bank Arena

Edison, N.J. ? Ticket applications are now available for the Trenton Regional of the 2009 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship at the Sovereign Bank Arena.

 

All-session tickets are priced at $52.00 for adults and $47.00 for senior citizens.  Group rates for youth groups are also available.  The tickets are good for both games on Sunday, March 29 and the regional final on Tuesday, March 31.  The general public can obtain the ticket application by stopping at the Sovereign Bank Arena box office or logging onto www.sovereignbankarena.com.

 

“The MAAC, Rider University, the Sovereign Bank Arena and the Mercer County Sports and Entertainment Commission look forward to hosting another successful NCAA event in Trenton,” Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Commissioner Rich Ensor said.  “Fans from the area and throughout the country will have an opportunity to watch quality women’s college basketball as four teams vie to play in the Final Four.”

 

Rider University is both proud and excited to play host to some of the best collegiate women’s basketball teams in the country,” Don Harnum, Director of Athletics at Rider, said.  “We look forward to working with the MAAC, the Sovereign Bank Arena, and the MCSEC to make this a quality experience for the teams and the fans.”

 

The MAAC and Rider hosted one of the first- and second-round sites of the 2006 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship at the Sovereign Bank Arena, where Rutgers University and the University of Georgia advanced to the regionals.  The MAAC also hosted the 2003 EUS Communications MAAC Basketball Championships at the Trenton venue.

 

“We are delighted to be hosting the NCAA Women’s Regionals in 2009,” Jeff Schumacher, General Manager of the Sovereign Bank Arena, said.  “This event will be a tremendous boost to the local economy and it will give us the opportunity to showcase our fine facility.”

 

“Mercer County is eagerly anticipating the return of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship tournament to our great county, and we welcome players, families and friends from far and wide to experience during their stay all that Mercer County has to offer,” Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said. “I am proud that the Mercer County Sports and Entertainment Commission and Sovereign Bank Arena have once again partnered with Rider University and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to showcase events such as the NCAA tournaments right here in our Capital City.”

 

The MAAC and Rider have co-hosted two NCAA events.  Prior to the 2006 event at Sovereign Bank Arena, both parties worked with the Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York to sponsor the 2003 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
