Wagner's Tomlinson Named Second-Team ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-American

Staten Island, NY - Wagner College junior Alexandra Tomlinson, a member of the Seahawks' Water Polo and Swimming & Diving teams, has been voted a Second-Team Academic All-American on the national level by ESPN the Magazine and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Earlier in the year, Tomlinson received First-Team Academic All-American accolades for District 1 while during the 2006-2007 year she reached Second-Team Academic All-American District 1 distinction.
To be eligible for this award, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
During the 2007-2008 year, Tomlinson moved up to seventh on the Wagner water polo all-time scoring list with 98 career goals. In addition, she brought home the silver in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Swimming Championships. The junior accomplished these athletics feats while earning a cumulative 4.0 grade point average, majoring in Nursing. For these efforts Tomlinson was also named to the 2008 MAAC All-Academic Team and 2007-2008 NEC Winter Honor Roll.
