Hatcher and Hoelck Receive All-American Honors

Edison, NJ ? Marist College’s Maggie Hatcher and Wagner College’s Billy Hoelck received All-American Honorable Mention accolades from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

Hatcher, and All-MAAC Second Team selection and MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, finished the season with 64 goals and 32 assists. She recorded 82 steals and had 16 field blocks as she helped lead the Red Foxes back to the NCAA Tournament. Hatcher was named the Defensive Player of the Week on February 26.

Hoelck closed out her senior year with the Seahawks ranking second in the nation in total goals (107) and third in goals per game (3.4 gpg). She was voted to the All-MAAC First Team and was named to the 2008 All-MAAC Tournament Team. Hoelck was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on three occasions, while also earning her first career MAAC Defensive Player of the Week award. Along with her 107 goals, she dished out 28 assists while drawing 38 ejections. On the defensive end, Hoelck led the team in steals with 58 while blocking 19 shots in the field. She finished her career as the Wagner all-time leader in goals, assists, and steals.

Also receiving votes were Marist goalie Elizabeth Davis and Iona College’s Lauren Peterson.
