MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

 

BURGANDY McCURTY

MH, Jr., 5-9, Port Washington, NY/Schreiber

 

McCurty averaged 4.8 kills per set and posted a .356 attack percentage in a 1-1 week for the Saints.  She had 27 kills and a .412 attack percentage in a narrow 3-2 loss at Canisius and collected 21 kills and 11 digs in the team’s 3-2 win at Canisius.  McCurty had just 12 errors in 101 attacks in the two matches.  She totaled nine blocks and 17 digs on the weekend. 

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

 

ALLISON NIETERS, IONA

L, So., 5-9, St. Charles, MO/Lutheran

 

Nieters was a defensive force on the back row in the Gaels sweep of Loyola and Saint Peter’s. She continued her impressive sophomore campaign averaging 8.67 digs per set (52 total) while being perfect on 31 service receptions. Nieters was instrumental in helping the Gaels to hold their opponents to just a .051 hitting percentage with only four aces. She’s averaging just over 6.07 digs per set in 12 matches thus far this season.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

JANELLE DAVIS, CANISIUS

S, Fr., 5-9, Allentown, PA/William Allen

 

Davis set career highs in both of the Canisius victories last weekend. The freshman setter had a career-high 44 assists in the win over Siena and then had 51 assists in the victory over Marist. Davis also had a career-high six blocks against the Saints. On the week, Davis averaged 9.50 assists per set, 1.30 digs per set and 0.80 blocks per while recording seven kills and one error in 12 attack attempts.
