MAAC Teams Up With Christ the King Prep School

Edison, NJ ? The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has joined with Christ the King Preparatory School in Newark, NJ to teach high school students about working in a professional office environment, through the encouragement of appropriate workplace behavior and the execution of everyday office work.
The internship program, which lasts for the entire academic year, consists of one student working in the MAAC office each day of the week, performing day-to-day administrative duties.
Prior to their arrival at the MAAC, the students enrolled in a three-week “boot camp” that taught them office etiquette, as well as basic office skills such as filing and typing. The partnership is designed so that students will be better qualified for college and a career.
The purpose of the program is so the students may finance the majority of the cost of their education at Christ the King, gain real world job experience, grow in self-confidence, and understand the relevance of their secondary education.
Christ the King Preparatory School in Newark, NJ, is part of The Cristo Rey Network?, a national association of high schools that provides quality, Catholic, college preparatory education to urban young people who live in communities with limited educational options.
