Fairfield Captures Men's and Women's Weekly Cross Country Honors

Edison, NJ - Fairfield University swept the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country weekly awards.
Freshman Vin Ferrer from Belford, N.J. was Fairfield’s top runner for the third consecutive week. Ferrer finished 14th out of 150 runners at the Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational on Saturday. Despite rain and a soggy course, Ferrer ran his second-fastest 8K time of the year with a mark of 26:21. He helped the Stags to a fifth-place finish out of 11 teams.
Golen, a freshman from Malvern, Pa., had an outstanding outing at the Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational on Saturday, running a time of 19:51.26 to finish ninth out of 123 runners despite soggy course conditions. It was the first time she has been the Stags top-finisher at an event. Golen helped the Stags to a fourth-place finish out of 11 teams.
The 2008 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be held on November 1st at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
