MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

BURGANDY McCURTY

MH, Jr., 5-9, Port Washington, NY/Schreiber

McCurty had a monster week as the three-time defending MAAC Champions got back on track with three straight wins to start their home season. McCurty averaged 5.5 kills, 2.7 digs and 1.2 blocks per set. She posted a .376 hitting percentage and tallied 20 kills per match. She finished the week with a 21-kill, seven dig effort in Siena’s three set win over Manhattan. In five-set wins over Binghamton and Iona she posted double-doubles. In the win over the Gaels, she had 23 kills, 13 digs and was in on 10 blocks.

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

AMY JEARY, RIDER

S/L, Jr., 5-5, Depew, NY/St. Mary's

Jeary averaged 6.29 digs per set as Rider split two MAAC matches for the week. Against Canisius, Jeary had 22 digs and against Niagara Jeary also compiled 22 digs in Rider’s four-set win.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

LAUREN BALMERT, FAIRFIELD

S, Fr., 5-9, Cranberry Twp., PA/Seneca Valley

Balmert helped Fairfield to a 2-0 week by averaging 11.50 assists and 2.62 digs along with six kills and four total blocks in eight sets. Balmert started the week off with her fifth double-double of the season which included 12 digs and a career-best 57 assists. She also had four kills on .300 hitting and tied a career-best with four total blocks against the Red Foxes. In the Stags’ 3-0 win against Iona, she just missed a double-double with 35 assists and nine digs and two kills. On the season, Balmert is averaging 8.19 assists and 2.33 digs.
