MAAC Player of the Week

 

RACHELE FITZ, MARIST

Junior, Forward, 6-0, Seven Hills, OH/Trinity

 

Fitz averaged 21.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game as Marist notched wins over Iona, Niagara, and Loyola this week. The junior started the week with 26 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in an 81-58 win over Iona on Tuesday. After 11 points and eight rebounds against Niagara Friday night, Fitz scored 27 points at Loyola on Sunday. Fitz has now scored in double-figures in 50 straight games and is now Marist’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,511 points, 76 points behind Ursula Winter for the all-time lead. For the week, Fitz shot 72.2% from the field and 92.3% form the free throw line.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

BRANDY GANG, MARIST

Freshman, Forward, 6-2, Hartville, OH/Lake

 

Gang averaged 13.7 points and four rebounds per game in wins over Iona, Niagara, and Loyola this week. She started the week off by tying her career-high with 11 points in an 81-58 win over Iona. In Marist’s 98-51 win over Niagara on Friday night, Gang set a new career-high with 16 points and added five rebounds. She followed that with 14 points, four rebounds, and a career-high four assists in the Red Foxes’ 86-44 win at Loyola. For the week, Gang shot 73.7% from the field including making 5-of-9 three-pointers, and 88.9% at the free throw line.
