MAAC Player of the Week

Jamal Barney, Loyola

Sophomore, Guard, 6-3, 185, Baltimore, Md./Southwestern

Barney, a sophomore guard, led Loyola to a 3-0 week by averaging 27.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in the three games.  He set school records with 18 free throws made and 22 free throws attempted in scoring 40 points in the win against NJIT.  It was his second 40-point outing of the season, making him the only player in Loyola’s 99-year history to own two and he is one of just three players in the NCAA to score 40 or more twice this season.  Barney grabbed eight rebounds with two steals to go with his 40 points.  He made a career-high four three-pointers on the way to scoring 21 points in the road win at Manhattan.  Barney also added eight rebounds in that outing.  He finished the week by scoring 22 points to go along with a career-high six assists in the home win over Marist.  Barney also recorded six rebounds, three steals and one block against the Red Foxes.
