Sheridan, DiFrancesco Named MAAC Runners of the Week

Edison, NJ – Iona’s Ryan Sheridan was named the MAAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Marist’s Addie DiFrancesco was selected as the Women’s Runner of the Week.
Sheridan, a red-shirt sophomore from Melville, New York, finished fourth overall in the White Race at the 2009 Pre-National Invitational hosted by Indiana State University. Sheridan finished the 8k course in 23:46.7 and was 19 seconds behind the race winner from No. 1 Stanford. The No. 12 Gaels were fifth overall in the white race finishing behind Stanford, No. 4 Colorado, No. 6 BYU and No. 8 Portland. There were 35 teams and 237 competitors in the race.
DiFrancesco, a sophomore from Waterbury, Connecticut, finished sixth overall in the women’s 5K race at the UAlbany Invitational on Saturday, leading Marist to a second-place team finish out of 24 teams. The sophomore ran a time of 17:56.9, the second-fastest 5K cross country time in program history.
The 2009 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be held on October 30 at Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale, New York.
