Mann continued her strong
play for the Stags averaging 4.67 kills on .509 hitting, and 5.17 points per
set along with four blocks and six digs in two Fairfield victories. In
addition, Mann committed just one attack error in 53 swings. She started the
week off by notching 17 kills on .571 hitting and six digs in the 3-0 win over
Manhattan. Mann then tallied 11 kills with no errors for a .440 attack
percentage and two blocks in the 3-0 win at Iona. On the season, Mann is
averaging 3.39 kills and 0.59 blocks and hitting .351.
MAAC Defensive Player of the Week
RITA WELSH,
MANHATTAN
MB, Sr., 6-2,
Collegeville, PA/Methacton
Welsh averaged 1.33 blocks
per set in three matches last week.
Against Lafayette on Wednesday, she stuffed five Leopards attacks, and
added nine kills and a service ace.
Welsh then tallied four blocks (including two solos) in a loss at
Fairfield on Friday night. In
Manhattan's five-set win over Loyola on Sunday, Welsh posted seven blocks and
added 12 kills on .296 hitting as the Lady Jaspers snapped their five-match
losing streak.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
KARI HONOMICHL,
NIAGARA
OH, Fr., 6-0,
Petersburg, MI/Ida
Honomichl totaled 23 kills in Niagara's victory over
Siena on Saturday, attacking at a .378 clip. She recorded seven kills in the
first set to set the tone for a 2-0 weekend for NU. Overall for the weekend,
the rookie outside hitter averaged 4.14 kills per set while adding five service
aces and 13 digs.
