MAAC Announces 2009-2010 Basketball Television Schedule

Edison, NJ - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and its basketball programs will provide its fans with all of the exciting, fast paced action of MAAC Basketball right in their very own homes.
Three MAAC schools will represent the league in ESPN's second annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon - consecutive live college basketball games to celebrate the start of the season - which will be highlighted by 12 live games in 24 consecutive hours on ESPN on Tuesday, November 17. Saint Peter's will host Monmouth University at 6:00 a.m., followed by Drexel University at Niagara at 8:00 a.m. Siena will take on Northeastern University at the Times Union Center at noon. The 6 and 8 a.m. telecasts mark the first time ESPN has televised live college basketball games in those time slots - more than 8,200 live matchups in 30 years.
Eight men's basketball games will also air on ESPNU, a multimedia college sports brand highlighted by a 24-hour television network that launched March 4, 2005.
Additionally, a wildcard game will air on ESPN2, along with a second game on ESPNU, on Friday, February 12 that will be selected in late January. Games scheduled that day are Marist at Canisius, Manhattan at Iona, Saint Peter's at Loyola, Siena at Niagara and Fairfield at Rider.
The MSG Network will once again be the primary carrier for the Pepsi Max MAAC Basketball Game of the Week. MSG will carry eight regular season men's games as well as the men's quarterfinal and semifinal games of the 2010 Citizens Bank MAAC Men's Basketball Championship at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.
Three regular season women's contests will also air on ESPNU and two regular season women's basketball games on the MSG Network. MSG will also televise the women's semifinals and championship game of the 2010 Citizens Bank MAAC Women's Basketball Championship.
The basketball schedule starts off on Friday, January 8, as Fairfield hosts Loyola for a 9:00 p.m. matchup at the Arena at Harbor Yard on ESPNU.
ESPNU will broadcast three men's and women's basketball doubleheaders this season. On Friday, January 15, Loyola hosts a twin bill, featuring the Greyhounds' women's program versus the Manhattan Jaspers at 4:30 p.m., and the men's team against Marist at 7:00 p.m.
On Friday, January 29, the Canisius women will host the four-time defending champions Marist at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Griffs against the Niagara Purple Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
Rider University's Alumni Gymnasium is the locale for the final ESPNU doubleheader on Friday, February 26. The Broncs will host Siena for a true twin bill, as the women's programs play at 4:30 p.m., followed by the men's teams at 7:00 p.m.
The Pepsi Max MAAC Television Network will air a men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Monday, February 1 at Iona College's Hynes Athletics Center. Iona will play the Fairfield women's program at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Gaels against the Canisius men's team at 7:00 p.m.
The Yanitelli Center, home of Saint Peter's College, will be the site of the second Pepsi Max MAAC Television Network doubleheader on Monday, February 15. The Peahens will play Niagara at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Peacocks against Rider at 7:00 p.m.
Furthermore, MAAC teams will be in television action all season long during non-conference play. Highlighting the list of those matchups is the opening round of the Old Spice Classic, as Iona takes on Florida State University for a 9:00 p.m. game live on ESPNU. Several other local, regional and/or national games are currently being finalized for both conference and non-conference games.
