Marist and Niagara Vie for MAAC Volleyball Title Tonight on ESPNU

Buffalo, N.Y. - Second-seeded Niagara University will take on fourth-seeded Marist College in the title match of the 2009 MAAC Volleyball Championship tonight at the Koessler Athletic Center on the campus of Canisius College at 7:30 p.m., live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.
Niagara advanced to just its second volleyball championship match in school history after defeating third-seeded Siena College, 3-2, in the semifinals on Sunday. Kari Honomichl recorded 22 kills in the win for Niagara, while fellow teammate Hannah Hedrick posted 21 kills and 20 digs. Michelle James finished the night with 57 assists.
Marist is looking to claim the MAAC volleyball title with its first appearance in the championship match in the history of the program. The Red Foxes upset top-seeded Fairfield University, 3-2, in yesterday's semifinals. Joanna Foss led Marist with 17 kills and nine digs, while Alexandra Schultze recorded 16 kills and seven digs. Dawn Jan registered 50 assists for Marist.
The winner of the 2009 MAAC Volleyball Championship will earn an automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship.
