Bilal Benn, Niagara

Benn, a senior guard/forward, helped lead Niagara to a 3-1 record during the week. He averaged a double-double for the Purple Eagles with 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Benn also added 13 assists and nine steals while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor and a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line. Tuesday morning, he recorded 19 points and 14 rebounds as part of a win over Drexel on ESPN. Benn responded with his third double-double in as many games in the Glenn Wilkes Classic opener with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Of his 40 rebounds, Benn pulled in 15 on the offensive side.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Mike McFadden, Iona
Freshman, Forward, 6-8, 220, Newark, N.J./Technology
McFadden, a freshman forward, was the Gaels' top first-year player, averaging 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in Iona's 2-0 week. He shot 66.7 percent (6-for-9) from the field and 88.9 percent (8-for-9) from the free throw line. McFadden tallied 10 or more points for the first time in his career with a 13-point effort in the win over Norfolk State on Saturday.
