Marist's Schneider Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Senior forward Ryan Schneider of the Marist College men's basketball team was named ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-American on Wednesday.

Schneider is the seventh student-athlete and third men's basketball player in school history to be named an Academic All-American.

This season, Schneider leads the Red Foxes by averaging 16.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He has drained 78 three-pointers this season, and is 30th in the country in free-throw percentage at .860. Schneider is also ranked in the top 10 of the MAAC in seven statistical categories.

A Communications/Sports Communications major, Schneider was selected to MAAC All-Academic Team last season.

The Marist men's basketball team returns to action on Friday at Canisius. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., and the game can be viewed live locally on Time Warner Cable.
