MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

 

CHELSEA MARTINEZ, CANISIUS

A, Sr., 5-7, Bethpage, NY/Plainedge

 

Martinez tallied 11 points, eight goals, three assists, seven draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls in two games for the Griffs. In Canisius’ game against Navy, Martinez matched a career high with six points on four goals and a personal best two assists. In the Griffs’ 12-11 victory over Binghamton, Martinez recorded four goals and an assist. She aslo became the fourth Griff to record 100 career points victory. Martinez has now accumulated 103 career points on 93 goals and 10 assists.

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

 

REBECCA WHITE, FAIRFIELD

M, Sr., 5-9, Spring Lake, NJ/St. Rose

 

White started both of the Stags games this week and led the team with nine ground balls and four caused turnovers. She also picked up five draw controls in the team’s victories. White had six ground balls and three caused turnovers at home against Mount St. Mary’s. She added three draw controls and had three ground balls, a caused turnover and two draw controls against Lehigh. White also added six goals on the offensive end.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

ASHLEY CURTIS, CANISIUS

A, Fr., 5-4, Peterborough, Ontario/St. Peter’s

 

Curtis recorded six points on four goals and two assists during the week. She started with four points, three goals and an assist against Navy and then followed with a goal and an assist against Binghamton. Her goal against the Bearcats was the game-winning score with just over three minutes remaining in the game.
