Teresa Healy, Niagara
Sophomore, 2B, 5-6, Las Vegas, Nev./Centennial
Healy batted .529 and had slugging percentage of 1.471 in five games at the UMBC Tournament. She belted four home runs, had a triple and a double and drove in 12 runs. Healy had a season-high five RBIs against host UMBC. On defense, she had eight putouts and 15 assists in Niagara’s 5-0 weekend.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Jackson, Iona
Freshman, RHP, 5-8, Citrus Heights, Calif./Del Campo
Jackson won all four games she appeared in, tossing three shutouts and did not allow an earned run in 28.0 IP in the Gaels’ final four days at the Rebel Spring Games. She struck out 38 batters on the week, including a school-record 16 in the Iona’s win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday. Jackson was on the winning end of two 1-0 decisions, including a three-hit shutout over Brown on Friday.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Rachelle Harris, Iona
Freshman, 2B/OF, 5-2, Houston, Texas/Nimitz
Harris was the catalyst for the Gaels’ offense in the lead off position and led the team with 12 hits in 27 at bats (.444 batting average). She had one double, four runs scored, two RBI and four stolen bases in the eight games played. With four walks, Harris posted an on-base percentage of .516. She had four multiple hit games and reached base in all but one contest.
