McDaniel, Postupack Win MAAC Tennis Weekly Awards

Edison, N.J. - Matt McDaniel of Loyola College was named MAAC Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week, while Dana Postupack of Fairfield University earned the award on the women’s side.

McDaniel, a junior, went 3-0 in both singles and doubles action.  He helped the Greyhounds post three consecutive victories, including their first conference win of the season over Niagara University. McDaniel won all singles matches in straight sets, starting with a win over Catholic University’s Connor Donnelly. Later in the week, he took part in a win over La Salle, defeating Fernando Tovia. At Niagara on Sunday, McDaniel wrapped up his week by defeating Jorda Tedasco-Blair. McDaniel also partnered with freshman Kevin Zingler at No. 2 doubles, going 3-0 for the week. Together they helped Loyola win the doubles point at Niagara with a victory over Tedasco-Blair and Nick Bolea.

Junior Postupack helped Fairfield extend its winning streak to seven matches and remain undefeated in MAAC competition, posting five victories on the week. In each of her singles matches, Postupack came away with straight set victories.  She opened the week with a win over Bryant University’s Morganne Downing, followed by a victory over Kristen Meahl of Holy Cross. Against Siena College, she topped three-time MAAC Player of the Year Sarah Mayer to secure Fairfield’s win. Postupack also posted two wins in doubles action. Against Holy Cross, she and partner Michaela Cerrone earned a win, while she teamed up with Marisa Voloshin in a win against Siena.

The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships will take place from April 16th through April 19th at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
