In the Peahens’ doubleheader sweep of La Salle last week, Reingle was the star on the mound and at the plate. In game one, she threw a complete game two-hitter, facing just five batters over the minimum and struck out 11, including the final two outs of the game with the winning run at the plate. Reingle also hit a solo homer in the game which proved to be the difference. In the game two victory, she hit a pair of homers. Reingle hit a three-run shot in the fifth which blew the game open, and then hit a solo homer later in the game.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Mallory Aldred, Canisius
Senior, RHP, 5-8, Whitby, Ontario/Anderson CVI
Aldred became the 15th pitcher in school history to throw a no-hitter March 26, as the Golden Griffins defeated Youngstown State, 8-0 in five innings, in the 2009 home opener. She allowed just three base runners in the game (two by walk, one reached via an error), and she struck out eight en route to her eighth win of the season. Aldred earned her league-leading ninth win of the year in the circle March 28 at Rider after she allowed one run and scattered eight hits in Canisius’ 5-1 win over the Broncs.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Katie LanceLlotti, Canisius
Freshman, SS, 5-7, Clarence, N.Y./Clarence
Lancellotti hit .400 (4-for-10) last week with a double, a homer, four runs scored and two runs batted in as the Golden Griffins went 2-1. In the team’s 8-0 win over Youngtown State, she went 3-for-3 and scored three times. One of her hits was a two-run homer in the fourth, her team-leading fourth home run of the season. Lancellotti posted an on-base percentage of .400, a slugging percentage of .800 and was credited with five putouts and two fielding assists as well.
