MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

MACKENZIE MONE, IONA
UT, Fr., 5-8, Temecula, CA/Chaparral

Mone was the second leading scorer for the Gaels in their 2-0 week. Mone had two goals a steal and kickout drawn in the 6-5 win over Princeton, the first-ever for the women’s program. She scored a pair of goal and had a pair of takeaways in the 11-7 win over George Washington in the Gaels’ lone game at the Villanova Invitational.


MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

MAGGIE WOOD, IONA
UT, So., 5-10, Evergreen Park, IL/Mother McAuley

Wood was dominant defensively for Iona as they went 2-0 this week and extended its current win streak to 3 games. Wood had an assist, five steals, four kickouts drawn and three field blocks, all team-highs as Iona defeated Princeton 6-5 for the program’s first-ever win over the Tigers. She also had a goal. Against George Washington at the Villanova Invitational, Wood scored and added an assist and three steals.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

CECILIA LEONARD, IONA
UT, Fr., 5-9, Plantation, FL/South Plantation

Leonard has been a top player for Iona in almost every game this season. Leonard netted a pair with three steals, a kickout drawn and two field blocks in a 6-5 win over Princeton, which was the first-ever victory for the women’s program over the Tigers. She had two goals, two assists and three steals as Iona went 2-0 with a 11-7 win over George Washington at the Villanova Invitational.
