MAAC Hands Out Awards at Basketball Championships

Albany, NY - The MAAC recognized four individuals for their dedication and service to the conference at the 2009 Citizens Bank MAAC Basketball Championships.
Manhattan College President Brother Thomas Scanlan, F.S.C. was honored by the Times Union Center for his support of the MAAC Tournament in Albany. After 22 years as President of Manhattan College he will be retiring at the end of this academic year.
Prior to the women's championship game, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Senior Associate Commissioner Barbara Church was recognized by the American Cancer Society with the "Survivor" award for her courageous battle with breast cancer and her continuous dedication to MAAC athletics.
Les Lombardi, Vice President of Anaconda Sports, was given an award of appreciation for helping to cultivate the long standing corporate partnership between the MAAC and Anaconda Sports. From merchandise to the use of “The Rock” as the official basketball of the MAAC, Les has been a great teammate for the MAAC’s marketing initiatives over the years.
Gina Mintzer, Director of Sales for the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau, was honored for her years of providing hospitality and service to the MAAC. Through her efforts with the Albany County CVB, she has helped make the MAAC teams, fans, and administrators feel welcome each time they have come to Albany.
