MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

 

CHRIS ZARINS, SIENA

M, Sr., 5-9, Bayville, NY/Locust Valley

 

Zarins scored three goals and added two assists in wins over Canisius and Mount St. Mary’s. Zarins tallied two goals and two assists in Siena’s 12-9 win against defending MAAC champion Canisius and scored the game winner against the Mount to clinch a spot in the MAAC Tournament. He put eight of his 10 shots on goal and had three ground balls for the week.

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

 

ANGELO MARRANO, MANHATTAN

M, Sr., 5-8, Rockville Centre, NY/South Side

 

Marrano had two stellar efforts as the Jaspers split a pair of conference games against Wagner and Canisius last week.  Against Wagner on Wednesday, he went 9-for-15 in the faceoff circle and corralled six ground balls, as Manhattan notched a 9-7 victory.  On Senior Day at Gaelic Park on Saturday, Marrano scored the go-ahead goal with 30 seconds left before Canisius came back to win in overtime.  He also had an assist in the game to go along with a career-high 11 ground balls and a 15-7 record on 22 faceoffs.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

BRYAN NEUFELD, SIENA

A, Fr., 5-10, Virgil, Ontario/Niagara District

 

Neufeld averaged 2.5 goals per game in MAAC wins over Canisius and Mount St. Mary’s. Neufeld scored three goals including the game winner against Canisius on Wednesday and then scored two goals against Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday. He also had two ground balls and caused one turnover. Neufeld averages 3.0 points per game and leads his team with 39 points, 29 goals and three game winning goals.
