Loyola Men Take Lead, Siena Women Extend Margin on Day Two of 2009 MAAC Golf Championships

Celebration, Fla. - The Loyola College men’s team and the Siena College women’s team lead the way after the second round of the 2009 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships at the Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, Florida.

The Greyhounds shot a collective 303, giving them a total of 603 through 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament, led by senior Michael Mulieri, who carded a 71 for the second straight day.  Siena College finished the day in second place with a two-day total of 605. Iona College sits in third place with a score of 606. Fairfield University sits fourth (620), Rider University fifth (623), followed by Manhattan College (626), Canisius College (630), Niagara University (631), and Saint Peter’s College (649).


Loyola senior Michael Mulieri leads the men’s individual field with a 2-under par 142, after posting a 71 for the second day in a row.


For the women, Siena leads with a team score of 689 after round two of the 54-hole tournament.  Fairfield currently sits in second place with a score of 692.


Katelynn Mannix of Siena held the lead in the women’s competition, finishing the second round with a 78, for a two-day score of 158.


Competition will resume tomorrow with the men teeing off at 7:30 a.m., and the women teeing off at 8:15 a.m.
