MAAC Player of the Week

 

Ashley Rampino, Manhattan

Sophomore, P/DP, 5-6, Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan

Rampino hit .455 (5-for-11) with nine RBIs in the four games, while also earning a win and a save in the circle.  In 11 innings, she struck out 14 opposing hitters.  Against the Peahens, Rampino yielded just four hits and struck out six in five innings of work, then followed up that performance with eight strikeouts and only one walk in six innings pitched against the Gaels.  Rampino, who had at least one hit and one RBI in each game last week, is currently on a five-game RBI streak.

 

 

 

MAAC Pitcher of the Week

 

Ericka Sullivan, Manhattan

Sophomore, P/IF, 5-4, Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore

Sullivan earned a pair of wins and had a 0.88 ERA in two appearances last week.  In the second game of the doubleheader against Saint Peter’s, she tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out seven in a 4-0 victory.  The next day at Iona, Sullivan entered in the sixth inning and gave up one earned run and two hits with one strikeout.  She earned the win when the Lady Jaspers came back to take the lead in the seventh.  For the week, Sullivan gave up just one earned run and five hits while striking out eight and walking only one in eight innings pitched.   

 

 

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

Lizzy Gatto, Canisius

Freshman, OF, 5-0, Hollister, Calif./San Benito

Gatto hit .444 (4-for-9) with a triple, five runs scored and five RBIs as the Golden Griffins went 3-1 in home games against St. Bonaventure and Marist.  She earned three walks during the four games last week and posted a .583 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage, with all four of her hits coming with runners in scoring position.  In the Griffs’ 8-0 win over the Bonnies, Gatto went 2-for-3 with a triple and a career-high four RBIs.
