Kristina Walraven, Manhattan
Sophomore, OF, 5-4, Thompson Ridge, N.Y./Pine Bush
In four games against Wagner and Niagara last week, Walraven hit .643 (9-for-14) with three runs scored and six RBIs. She drove in at least one run in each of the four games. Against Wagner on Thursday, Walraven went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in the doubleheader. In the doubleheader sweep over Niagara on Sunday, she went 6-for-9 with three runs scored and six RBIs. She was also perfect on six defensive chances in center field. Walraven is currently on a six-game hitting streak and a four-game RBI streak.
Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Minice, Fairfield
Sophomore, RHP, 5-7, Bellevue, Wash./Sammamish
Minice posted a 4-0 record with a 0.83 ERA against MAAC opponents last week, earning all the conference decisions for the week. She allowed three earned runs in 25.1 innings pitched with 11 strikeouts. Minice pitched a complete game in both ends of a doubleheader against Rider, allowing one unearned run in 14 innings. She followed with a complete game victory against Marist, before earning the win in the nightcap with four-plus innings of relief work.
Rookie of the Week
Carla Velasquez, Manhattan
Freshman, C/1B, 5-6, Miami, Fla./Felix Varela
Velasquez went 3-for-8 and scored three runs in three games last week. She also had an on-base percentage of .500 and a .625 slugging percentage against Wagner and Niagara. Velasquez had a pair of doubles and scored two runs in game one of the Lady Jaspers’ doubleheader sweep of Niagara on Sunday. In game two of the twinbill, she went 1-for-2 with an RBI, a run scored and a pair of walks, as Manhattan notched an 8-4 victory.
