Kevin Mahoney, Canisius
Senior, 3B, 6-0/195, Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place
Mahoney batted .400 (6-for-15) with five runs scored, two homers, 11 RBIs and three stolen bases in three Canisius victories last week as the Golden Griffins secured the No. 2 seed in the MAAC Tournament. He had two hits in each of the games as well as at least three RBI in each contest as the senior set the program record with 60 RBI on the season.
Ruben Perez, Manhattan
Senior, INF, 6-2/194, Miami, Fla./Felix Varela
Perez hit .625 (10-for-16), drove in six RBI and recorded three doubles last week in a series victory at Iona which clinched the Jaspers’ second consecutive MAAC Regular-Season Title. He boasted a .647 on-base percentage in the three-game set and went over the .400 batting average plateau on the season.
Pitcher of the Week
B.J. Martin, Marist
Junior, RHP, 6-0/180, Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan
Martin struck out 12 and allowed just two hits in eight innings, helping Marist clinch a MAAC Tournament berth with a 9-1 victory over Fairfield in the second game of a doubleheader on May 16. He took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, and the lone run he permitted was unearned. It was Martin’s third 10-plus strikeout performance of the season, all of which have come in his last six starts.
Rookie of the Week
Matt Jordan, Manhattan
Freshman, LHP, 6-2/220, Kingston, N.Y./Kingston
Jordan earned his fourth win and the team’s 18th MAAC victory of the season on Saturday in a 10-1 win in the regular-season finale at Iona. He twirled five strong innings, struck out six batters, allowed just five hits and yielded one walk.
