Loudonville, N.Y. - Siena College freshman Dan Paolini was one of eight second baseman in the nation selected to the prestigious Louisville Slugger's Freshmen All-American Team as released by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper today. Paolini led the Northeast and was second among all freshmen nationally with a .430 batting average. He also established a new single-season program record with 86 hits.
Paolini currently stands ninth nationally in batting average. He was named MAAC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-MAAC.
Paolini hit safely in 44 of the Saints' 50 games this season. In addition to his school record 86 hits, Paolini's 53 RBI were one off the single-season mark. He ended the year with a 12-game hitting streak, posting multi-hit games in 11 of those contests. Paolini also blasted 11 home runs, tallied 12 doubles and three triples.
