MAAC Announces 2008-09 Academic Honor Roll

Edison, N.J. - A total of 990 athletes were honored for their achievements both academically and athletically as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2008-09 MAAC Academic Honor Roll.

 

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility.  The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 24 sports that the conference sponsors.

 

Marist College heads the list of honored student-athletes with 173, followed by Iona College with 126 and Loyola College with 106.  The rest of the list is as follows: Manhattan College 101, Niagara University 89, Siena College 85, Canisius College 73, Fairfield University and Rider University 71, and Saint Peter’s College 49.  Among the associate members, Wagner College, which competes in the MAAC Men’s Lacrosse League and the MAAC Women’s Water Polo League, has the most with 15.
