MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

BURGANDY McCURTY, SIENA

OH/MB, Sr., 5-9, Port Washington, NY/Schreiber

McCurty averaged 4.4 kills, 2.1 digs and 1.1 blocks per set in four matches for the Saints.  She was named to the All-Tournament Team at the LIU Classic.  Her marquee performance came in Siena's dramatic come-from-behind win over Colgate when she tallied 28 kills, 11 digs,  and four blocks. McCurty began the week with a double-double in a five set loss at regional power St. John's.  She had 11 kills and five digs in a 3-0 loss to Georgia and registered 14 kills and six digs while posting a .282 attack percentage in a narrow 3-0 loss to LIU.

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

RITA WELSH, MANHATTAN

MB, Sr., 6-2, Collegeville, PA/Methacton

Welsh recorded 21 blocks in four matches to earn All-Tournament honors at the Rose Hill Classic. Against Sacred Heart, Welsh tallied a career-high and tournament-record 11 blocks (including four solos) in the Lady Jaspers' 3-0 win. Welsh backed up that performance later in the day with six blocks in a loss to Seton Hall.  Earlier in the week, Welsh notched three blocks, 11 kills and hit .846 without an error in a win over Fairleigh Dickinson.  Overall, Welsh averaged 1.41 blocks in 17 sets played last week.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

KARI HONOMICHL, NIAGARA

OH, Fr., 6-0, Petersburg, MI/Ida

 

Honomichl played in three matches this week, helping Niagara to a 2-1 weekend. She averaged 4.64 kills per set and 2.09 digs per set at the Crosstown Classic. The rookie totaled 33 kills and a .459 attacking percentage in a pair of wins on Sunday. She also had 21 kills, 13 digs and three service aces against Lehigh.
