Vess, Fitzgerald Selected for Indoor Track Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ – Marist College’s Adam Vess was chosen as the MAAC Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week, while Manhattan College’s Clare Fitzgerald was named the Women’s Performer of the Week.
Vess, a sophomore from Cromwell, Connecticut, recorded a victory for the second straight week as he won the seeded mile at the Gotham Cup at the Armory Track and Field Center on Friday. Vess qualified for the IC4A Championship in his second event with a time of 4:10.66. He finished the race with a strong 400-meter split of 59.3 seconds to solidify the win. Last week, he was named MAAC Men’s Performer of the Week as he anchored a come-from-behind victory in the distance medley relay.
Fitzgerald, a freshman from Tralee, Ireland, posted a mark of 13.91 meters in the women's shot put Saturday at the NYRR Track and Field Meet at the Armory Track and Field Center. The mark set an Irish Junior national record, as well as qualified her for the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. It placed her fourth at the meet.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held on Friday, February 19th at The Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.
