Canisius Hosts MAAC Basketball Doubleheader on January 29 on ESPNU

Edison, N.J. - Canisius College's Koessler Athletic Center will be the site for the next televised MAAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader this season on Friday, January 29. Both games will air live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.
The first game of the twin bill will feature a match-up between the women's programs from Marist College and Canisius at 4:30 p.m. Marist, 8-0 in the MAAC, is led by senior forward Rachele Fitz, who is registering 18.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, and sophomore guard Corielle Yarde, who is averaging 15.5 points and 5.9 caroms a night for the Red Foxes. Canisius, 3-4 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Brittané Russell, who is contributing 13.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, and senior forward Ellie Radke, who is posting 10.9 points and 5.7 assists an outing for the Red Foxes.
Game two has the Niagara University men's team taking on host Canisius for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Niagara, 4-6 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Tyrone Lewis, who is averaging 17.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, as well as senior guard/forward Bilal Benn, who is contributing 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds an outing. Canisius, 5-5 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Frank Turner, who is averaging 17.1 points and 5.1 assists an outing, and junior guard Julius Coles, who is netting 15.4 points and 5.3 rebounds a night for the Griffs.
