JERSEY CITY, N.J. --  The Saint Peter's College men's basketball program will honor the memory of former men's basketball Head Coach Bob Dukiet during the Peacocks' nationally televised game against Manhattan on January 31st. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. Dukiet, who passed away after losing his battle with cancer on May 28, 2009, led the Peacocks from 1979-1986. Saint Peter's will donate a portion of the proceeds from that game to the Coaches vs. Cancer Foundation.

"Coach Dukiet led the men's basketball program into the newly formed Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and helped to continue the rich tradition of Saint Peter's men's basketball during his successful tenure," said Saint Peter's College Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott. "We think it's most appropriate to honor Coach Dukiet's memory by supporting the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative."

Dukiet compiled a record of 135-64 at Saint Peter's and led the Peacocks to the MAAC Regular Season Championship in the league's first season. He also took the Peacocks to the NIT twice and to the ECAC Tournament once. Dukiet left Saint Peter's following the 1985-86 season to take the head coaching job at Marquette University. He was also the head coach at Gannon (PA) for seven seasons. Dukiet retired to Florida following the 1995-96 season.
