New Rochelle, NY - Thirty-two members of the
Iona College Men's and Women's swimming team, along with 26 volunteers from the Women's lacrosse team, joined together in a community service project as they acted
as race marshals on the Bike Course of the 25th Annual Westchester Triathlon on
Sunday, Sept. 26.
The event is regarded as the premier Olympic distance triathlon in the
Northeast with nearly 1000 competitors and a race course that starts at Rye Beach
and travels through Rye,
Port Chester, Harrison,
Purchase, Greenwich
and North Castle and finishes at Playland Park
in Rye. The
contestants compete over a 1500-meter swim; 25-mile bike and 10K run course.
This is the third year in a row the lacrosse team has volunteered at the event,
and the second consecutive year they have worked at the adult portion
of the event.
