Morris, Fountain, Cronin, Eliazar, Bolstad Claim Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

Edison, NJ - Brennan Morris of Loyola University was selected as the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, while the women's award was given to Caitlin Cronin of Loyola University and Michelle Fountain of Marist College. Men's and Women's Diver of the Week honors were given to Brian Bolstad and Chelaine Eliazar, both from Marist College.
Morris won three events to help the Greyhounds defeat George Mason in their first meet of the season, a competition that also included defending Patriot League Champion Navy. Morris won the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyles and the 200-yard individual medley. His time in the 1,000 free, 9:29.40, was more than eight seconds better than the second-place finisher, and he won the 500 free by almost three seconds. His final victory came in the 200 IM, a race he won by more than seven seconds.
Fountain won four events at the Black Knight Invitational hosted by Army on Oct. 15, placing first in the 100-yd. and 200-yd. freestyle events with times of 53.31 and 1:55.02, respectively. Fountain also placed first in the 500-yd. freestyle with a time of 5:11.84. Additionally, she was a member of Marist's winning 400-yd. freestyle relay team which posted a time of 3:37.34.
In her first intercollegiate meet, Cronin set a school record by winning the 200-yard freestyle against Navy and George Mason. Cronin clocked a time of 1:53.75, edging Navy's Allison Ranzau by a half second. Her time eclipsed the previous school record of 1:53.87, set in 2009 by Emily Benton. In addition to her record-setting victory in the 200 free, Cronin took second in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle.
Eliazar won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the Black Knight Invitational which marked the first time in her career that she accomplished the feat. In the 1-meter dive, Eliazar tallied 196.71 points while earning 217.27 points in the 3-meter board.
Bolstad was victorious in the 1-meter dive at the Black Knight Invitational earning 315.37 points. For his performance, Bolstad qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.
The 2011 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships will be held February 17-19 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY, hosted by Canisius College and Niagara University.
