Siena Sports Information
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The only remaining undefeated and untied team left in all of Division I women's soccer is now ranked. Siena checked in at No. 25 nationally in the Soccer America Top-25 rankings released on Monday night. No other Siena Athletics program has been nationally ranked during the Division I era.
"It's a great accomplishment and recognition for our team to be recognized nationally," said head coach Steve Karbowski. "This is something that the team can be proud of to be able to earn a great recognition such as this."
The Saints at 10-0 were also ranked eighth in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Northeast Region rankings released earlier today. Last week, the Saints received a program-record 24 votes in the NSCAA poll which was the 33rd highest total in the nation. One of two nationally recognized women's soccer polls, this week's NSCAA rankings are scheduled to come out Tuesday afternoon.
Siena won both of its matches last week, winning road contests by identical 2-1 scores at Manhattan and Saint Peter's to begin conference action. Siena has won eight of its ten matches on the road this season and boasts wins over BIG EAST powers UCONN and Providence.
The Saints return to the pitch Friday when they host Loyola at Siena Field in a 4 p.m. kickoff.
