Baltimore, Md. - Third-seeded Iona College posted a 2-1 victory over second-seeded Siena College in the first semifinal of the 2010 Chick-fil-A MAAC Men's Soccer Championship at the Ridley Athletic Complex on the campus of Loyola University Maryland.

Siena freshman midfielder Matt Hemsley posted the first goal of the day in the 24th minute of the match.  Senior forward Joey Taverenese threw in the ball about 30 yards out into the top of the box, which was then headed by sophomore back Jannis Opalka and then Hemsley headed in the ball in the left hand side of the net.

In the 70th minute, Iona senior midfielder Mario Rios tied the game at 1-1, sending in a shot to the top left corner of the net following a corner kick by freshman midfielder Franklin Castellanos.

The stalemate was broken by Iona freshman forward Samuel Adjei in the 84th minute, knocking in a pass from senior back Roberto Hernandez-Raan, to make the game-winning goal.

Iona's Michael Jordan recorded two saves in goal.  Siena's Phil Chabot finished the night with six saves.

Iona, who advanced to its second MAAC championship final in program history, will face the winner of the Saint Peter's/Loyola game on Sunday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m.  The winner of that match will earn the MAAC's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Men's College Cup.
